Gilbert and The Cruz Family
A native Kansan, Gilbert was born and raised in Garden City. Gilbert is a Desert Storm Veteran and was awarded the Kuwaiti Liberation Medal. In 1994, Gilbert graduated with a bachelors of science in respiratory care from the University of Kansas Medical Center. Later, he received hismasters of Public Health Administration from the University of Missouri, Kansas City. He then started his first business in 1998 in a long-term care facility in Richmond, Kansas. Gilbert was appointed by Governor Kathleen Sebelius in April of 2006 and confirmed by the Senate in March of 2007.
